Some helpful information regarding marriage licenses in Lee county: Applications for marriage license are received and processed both in the Fort Myers and the Cape Coral Clerks Branch offices. U.S. citizens are required to have their Social Security number. The bride and groom must apply in person. The only acceptable forms of identification are: valid driver's license from any state; valid alien registration "green" card; military ID; valid passport; or valid state ID card. Licenses are valid for 60 days from the effective date.

Florida Residents can have the 3 day waiting period waived by attending a four-hour premarital preparation course prior to the issuance of the license. In order to waive the 3 day waiting period, your premarital preparation course provider must be registered with the Lee County Clerks Office. The Lee County Clerk�s Office can provide a list of premarital preparation course providers upon request; the list is also located on their site http://www.leeclerk.org
