1. Certainly, before any engagement photography is to take place, you need a great to-be-wed couple like Karen and Zach.
2. The Lovers Key Beach is a fantastic location, but you do need a not-rainy day, so check the forecast.
3. The right time of day! Timing is everything… If you want great beach engagement or wedding photography don’t plan on starting at high noon! Early in the morning or close to sunset are the best times. Plus, it’s just more comfortable – if you’re relaxed it shows in your pictures.
4. Speaking of comfortable, you’ll want a photographer you’re comfortable with, one with who lets you be yourself and lets your love show in your photos. Shameless plug, but, who better than Fort Myers Beach Photographer Erin Wilson of Leap Year Photography for your engagement session?
5. And the most important item on our check list — DEEP WOODS OFF or the like, but it should contain the highest percentage of DEET you are comfortable with. Remember that this is the beach in Florida and, depending on the time of year, it can be buggy, but with a little preparation, you can stack the deck in your favor and have a fun e-session with images that will last a lifetime.

It’s funny that no matter how many times we photograph weddings on Ft Myers Beach, there is always another great venue or location that the area has to offer. Bowditch Point is the perfect setting for an intimate ceremony, just down the road from the Pink Shell Resort and not too many people. It’s also a great beach for the sunset, which as you can see below, certainly delivered for D&D’s wedding.

We recently had the pleasure of photographing Jessica and Vince’s wedding and reception at the Pink Shell. For most weddings, the Bride is the star of the show with the Groom looking good, but in no comparison to the Bride. For this wedding Vince, in his United States Marine Corps Dress Blues, gave Jessica a run for her money. In the end though, Jessica still out-shined everyone, including Vince…

While their signature lagoon-style “Octopool” waterfall and Bongo’s or Jojo’s restaurant provide a more tropical setting at the Pink Shell. Engagement Sessions (E-sessions) are one of our favorite types of Photo shoots. No pressure, no real time lines, it’s just us & the couple in love! A few weeks back we had the pleasure of shooting an E-session for Sarah and Jacob, Downtown Fort Myers and also just off Fort Myers Beach. We couldn’t have asked for a better Florida sunset — and the couple was pretty great too!
