Fort Myers Wedding Photographer – Burroughs Home Weddings

As a Fort Myers Wedding Photographer who actually lives in the heart of Ft Myers, I love wedding venues like the Burroughs Home and Gardens that provide a glimpse into Fort Myers’ historic past. If you know Scott and I, you know this is not just some fluff for our wedding photography blog. We actually live in an old historic home, not too far from the Burroughs. Old homes like this not only provide beautiful grounds for your wedding ceremony and the photos that follow, but your wedding reception just feels more intimate, more like it’s a gathering of family and friends held at home — with none of the day after clean up.

Janine and Kurt’s wedding ceremony took place under the picturesque live oaks on the waterfront of the Caloosahatchee River. While I’ve photographed many weddings where there was no seating provided, this one was one of a few where the seating wasn’t used at all — they had a standing ovation for the entire ceremony! And why not? Janine and Kurt were a great bride and groom deserving of celebration on their fantastic wedding day.

The wedding reception took place inside the Burroughs home with the wedding dance on the giant outdoor porch. Peacock feathers were the thematic element used in the brides bouquet and hair, centerpieces, and was carried through to their beautiful wedding cake too, as seen below.

However, this is the first time we’ve had the pleasure of providing wedding photography at Colonial Country Club in Fort Myers. Captiva Island Photographers ‘Tween Waters Inn Wedding

Downtown Fort Myers Wedding – Photography on Sanibel Beach

The Downtown Fort Myers Florida River District is such a great spot for wedding photography! Numerous historic venues like the Burroughs Home, Heitman House, Edison and Ford estates and The Veranda are all great wedding locations. Plus, with the new Hotel Indigo, there’s plenty of room for out of town guests to stay in the heart of the city.

Ania and Matt had an intimate destination wedding in Downtown Ft. Myers. So intimate, we did not meet up with them until we photographed their nuptial celebration on Sanibel Island! Leap Year Photography is blessed to take part in all kinds of weddings — big celebrations with hundreds of guests, to small affairs, like Ania and Matt’s, where it’s just the Bride, Groom and the Sanibel beach. We weren’t sure that we wouldn’t be rained out, but I think you’ll see from the photos below, it was very picturesque day – having great subjects didn’t hurt either!

Pink Shell Resort Fort Myers Beach Weddings

As a Fort Myers Photographer I’m frequently asked what my favorite venues are for weddings in the Ft Myers area. The Pink Shell Beach Resort and Spa certainly is on the top of my list! The Pink Shell’s beach location provides a very picturesque wedding setting all photographers would love. Not only that, they have fantastic staff and other amenities that make it a great location for a destination wedding. As a Bride you’ll appreciate that the Pink Shell has a dedicated coordinator, like Dony Bruder, for every wedding. We especially liked that Dony coordinated in a ‘photography mindful’ way as well, checking in with us on the time-line of the day frequently.

Wedding Photography from the Sundial Resort and The Dunes Sanibel Island

Anne and Matt’s wedding photography from Sundial Beach & Golf Resort on Sanibel Island, with their reception at the The Dunes Golf Resort, also on Sanibel Island.

To say, as photographers, we’ve been blessed with good weather for our wedding photography would be an understatement. We’ve only had one wedding that had to move to an alternate inside location because of rain. However, we thought Anne and Matt were going to be the second Bride and Groom to have a rain out. It was raining all morning, but, as if it was planned, about an hour before the wedding, the sun came out!

Perhaps part one of the reasons the Sundial Resort was voted “Best of The Knot Weddings in 2010″ was due to how flexible their staff was. The Pear Whelk Beach wedding ceremony location was not set up due to the rain but, the Sundial Resort (with the help of some guests) quickly had everything in place, just in time!

While The Dunes has an 18-hole championship golf course, the focus this night was on Anne and Matt’s wedding reception in the Rassa restaurant. It was clear to this photographer that all their friends and family had a great time from the wedding dance to the cake cutting. And their cake didn’t just look good — it was delicious! We usually stick to the photography and don’t have cake, but when we heard it was from Mason’s Bakery we couldn’t resist!

Sanibel Island Wedding Photography

I titled this one Sanibel Island Wedding Photography, but actually Katherina and Volker were here for a Honeymoon from Germany! So this really was a Trash the Dress (sans any real trashing) or a Day After session. We always find the best lighting for beach photography is either sunset or sunrise. For their photography session we chose the Sanibel Island Lighthouse beach at sunrise (about 6:45 AM on this day). It was a perfect Sanibel Island day too! Not many people on the beach, the air was nice and cool for most of the photo shoot and this photographer had a great time!

Wedding at the Pink Shell Resort and Spa Fort Myers

The Pink Shell Beach Resort and Spa certainly has a fantastic tropical setting for wedding ceremonies on Fort Myers Beach. With their large Ballrooms, on-site services and helpful staff its also a great place for your wedding reception as well. Add in plenty of rooms for your guests and we can see why the Pink Shell is a popular place for destination weddings in southwest Florida. We’re happy to say it’s wedding photographer friendly as well.

We recently had the pleasure of photographing Jessica and Vince’s wedding and reception at the Pink Shell. For most weddings, the Bride is the star of the show with the Groom looking good, but in no comparison to the Bride. For this wedding Vince, in his United States Marine Corps Dress Blues, gave Jessica a run for her money. In the end though, Jessica still out-shined everyone, including Vince…

Captiva Wedding Photography – Anita and Kaare’s Destination Wedding

Wedding Photography from Anita and Kaare’s Captiva Island Wedding!

Captiva may be just a short drive from Ft Myers beach, but the setting is worlds apart. Anita and Kaare were treated to a friendly Heron, pristine beach as far as the eye could see, dreamy clouds, and a perfect sunset! Coming all the way from Norway we were happy Captiva Island delivered everything the Bride, Groom, and this photographer could ask for! They rented the Coquina House on Captiva Drive, a few steps from the Mad Hatter Restaurant, for their destination wedding spot and Island getaway.
